<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress degradation in detection precision of a PM (particulate matter) sensor. <P>SOLUTION: In an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine, a selective reduction type NOx catalyst is provided downstream from a filter in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, and a PM sensor is provided downstream from the selective reduction type NOx catalyst. When detecting the quantity of PM by means of the PM sensor, the flow rate of exhaust gas passing through the selective reduction type NOx catalyst is decreased rather than a case where the quantity of PM is not detected by means of the PM sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
