<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for imparting hydrophilicity to silicone rubber, capable of readily hydrophilizing a surface of a silicone rubber cured material of an addition-curable silicone rubber composition for a long period, and a silicone rubber hydrophilized by the method. <P>SOLUTION: The method for imparting hydrophilicity to silicone rubber includes: subjecting entirely or partially the surface of the silicone rubber that is a cured material of the addition-curable silicone rubber composition including a branched organohydrogenpolysiloxane to plasma polymerization in the presence of a gas mixture containing methane and oxygen, thereby imparting hydrophilicity thereto.
