<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly edit master data of an electronic comic comprising an image file for each page of the comic and an information file containing balloon information including balloon area information in a page, and particularly to easily edit the balloon area information. <P>SOLUTION: Balloon area information is stored in an information file when a contrast image is analyzed and balloon extraction is performed. An image in which the extracted balloons are filled is displayed on the basis of the information file. This enables the present balloon extraction result to be confirmed. When an operation unit is operated to connect a portion where a boundary line is broken and add it as a closed region, the closed region is added as a balloon. By the direction of deleting a balloon at a position indicated via the operation unit, the balloon at the position is deleted.
