<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which degradation of battery performance can be prevented, by minimizing moisture adsorption of a heat-resistant layer containing a porous insulating inorganic filler. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes an electrode 1 consisting of a positive electrode 10, a negative electrode 20, and a separator 30 interposed therebetween, and a heat-resistant layer 40 formed on the surface of the separator 30 and containing a porous insulating inorganic filler. A membrane 50 having a moisture adsorption capacity lower than that of the insulating inorganic filler is formed on the surface of the heat-resistant layer 40.
