<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine an abnormality in the conveying state of a recording medium without being affected by the reflecting state of an image recorded in the recoding medium. <P>SOLUTION: The recording device includes: a carriage with a recording head mounted; a sensor having a light emitting element mounted on the carriage and emitting light, and a height detecting element detecting the height of the recording medium above a platen based on the receiving of reflected light; a first determination means determining whether detection values indicating heights detected by the height detecting element at respective positions along a scanning direction of the carriage are valid or invalid, respectively; a correction means correcting the detection value which is determined to be invalid by the first determination means; and a second determination means determining whether or not the conveying state of the recording medium has an abnormality based on the detection value corrected by the correction means and a reflected light amount from the recording medium which is detected by the sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
