<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire that is light in weight and is superior in steering stability. <P>SOLUTION: The tire is assembled on the outer surface of a core in a toroidal shape, and is formed by being pressurized and heated inside a cavity formed between a mold and the core. The tire includes a belt 12 laminated with a carcass on the radial direction inner side of a tread. The belt 12 has many parallel steel cords 38 and topping rubber 40. The steel cords 38 include a first cord 38a and a second cord 38b having an outer diameter D2 smaller than the outer diameter D1 of the first cord 38a. The second cord 38b is adjacent to the first cord 38a.
