<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent leaves from interfering with a sealing surface excessively, by allowing each of leaf seals to have a pack radius matched to a radius of the sealing surface in the range of the tolerance limits, in a method for manufacturing leaf seals for performing the seals between relatively-rotating coaxial components. <P>SOLUTION: A leaf seal manufacturing method includes the steps of: (a) determining production parameters for manufacturing a plurality of leaf seals to be used together with a sealing surface 37 having a given radius, wherein the parameters are determined so that at least a portion of the produced leaf seals will have pack radii which are not matched to the tolerance limits for preventing excessive interference; (b) manufacturing the leaf seals using the determined production parameters; and (c) modifying the pack radii for a portion of the produced leaf seals which are not matched to the tolerance limits for preventing the excessive interference, wherein the modified pack radii are matched to the sealing surface 37 in the range of the tolerance limits. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
