<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-diameter optical fiber cable which can be wired through a synthetic resin flexible tube (combined duct) and the like and allows easy mid-span branching while minimizing increase in transmission loss due to bending of optical fibers. <P>SOLUTION: A fiber cable of the present invention has a rectangular cross-sectional shape and includes: a slot core 2 having a pair of slot grooves 2a and 2b located along two opposing sides of the rectangle that are perpendicular to a major axis thereof and extending in the longitudinal direction of the cable; a plurality of optical fibers 1a and 1b accommodated in the pair of slot grooves 2a and 2b, respectively; a tension member 3 located at the center of the slot core 2 and extending in the longitudinal direction of the cable; and an outer jacket 5, which covers the circumference of the slot core 2, having a rectangular circumferential shape whose directions of major and minor axes match those of the slot core 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
