摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat dissipation and a cooling performance of a cylinder block. <P>SOLUTION: A variable compression ratio internal combustion engine 1 comprises a cylinder block 3 fitted inside a crank case 4 movably in the cylinder axis direction. A new air discharging path 42 is provided for discharging new air to the inside of an internal combustion engine while being oriented to the cylinder block. A new air extracting path 45 is provided for extracting the new air from an intake path. A new air introducing path 46 is provided for introducing new air from a portion other than the intake path.
