<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constant velocity universal joint in which a thermoplastic elastomer boot having an outer joint member mounting section is formed in a cylindrical shape while reducing a maximum outer diameter, and which is excellent in durability and sealing property. <P>SOLUTION: In the opening of the mouth of an outer joint member 1, a circumferential protrusion 35 and a circumferential recess 36 are formed in a large-diameter section 4a, and a small-diameter section 4b is formed to have a linear vertical sectional shape in the entire circumferential range. An intermediate member 50 is a short cylindrical body having a cylindrical outer peripheral surface. The intermediate member 50 includes a thick-walled section 50 fitted in the small-diameter section 4b and a circular arc-shaped connection section 61 which connects the thick-walled sections 60.
