<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic steering gear for a ship, estimating a tidal current component without being influenced by any of a course-keeping period and a veering period. <P>SOLUTION: An estimator 18 includes: an azimuth control system estimator 18A for estimating an azimuth error; a ship course control system estimator 18B for estimating a ship course error; and a ground coordinate system tidal current estimator 18C for estimating a tidal current in a ground coordinate system. The ground coordinate system tidal current estimator 18C estimates estimated tidal current vectors (d<SB POS="POST">x</SB><SP POS="POST">^</SP>, d<SB POS="POST">y</SB><SP POS="POST">^</SP>) without using a reference azimuth from the azimuth (ψ) of a hull acquired from a sensor and the positions (x, y) of the hull in the ground coordinate system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
