摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable optical transmission in a wavelength division multiplex optical transmission system even when the permeation characteristics of a wavelength separation multiplex element of the system fluctuates with the passage of time. <P>SOLUTION: A control device 40 of an optical transmitter/receiver device 14-1 refers to a wavelength correspondence table 42 to read in the wavelengths assigned for uplink and downlink. Optical transmitter/receiver devices 14-1, 70-1 try transmitting/receiving an optical signal in the wavelength assigned for downlink and in the wavelength assigned for uplink. When no response signal is received from the optical transmitter/receiver device 70-1 within a certain time, the control device 40 notifies the operator of an error. If a response signal is received but its signal quality is less than a prescribed threshold, the control device 40 executes fine-tuned adjustment of the uplink and the downlink wavelengths.
