<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of obtaining a focused image desired by a user, while reducing the total photographing time, without missing a shutter chance. <P>SOLUTION: When a release instruction by the user is received, a CPU 101 determines an object in photographing and sets the photographic parameter of an imaging part 102 or the like and the scan range and scan direction of a focus lens, according to the determined object. After that, the CPU 101 continuously operates the imaging part 102, to obtain synchronization with the drive of the focus lens. A focusing evaluation part 111 evaluates the focused state of image data obtained through the imaging part 102 and allows the storage of the image data and focused image information according to the evaluation result. After completing photographing, the CPU 101 displays a multi-focus image on a display part 108 according to the focused image information.
