<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface defect detection apparatus capable of suppressing reduction of surface defect detection accuracy caused by dead weight drop, warp or the like of a tip part or a tail end part of a non-continuous plate-like test material. <P>SOLUTION: In the surface defect detection apparatus for detecting an unopened defect existing on the front and rear surfaces of the non-continuous plate-like test material in conveyance by using an E-type eddy current sensor including an excitation coil and two detection coils, the E-type eddy current sensor is configured so that the two detection coils are arrayed in a direction orthogonal to a conveyance direction of the test material, the E-type sensor is stored in a sensor box, and auxiliary rolls are arranged between conveyance rolls arranged before and after the sensor box. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
