<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorption member that stably performs bellows deformation and has high energy absorption efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: This shock absorption member 1 is a cylindrical shock absorption member that, upon reception of an axial compressive load, absorbs impact energy by plastically deforming in a bellows form. The sidewall is formed of a flat surface that does not have a bead for inducing the bellows deformation. The cross-sectional shape orthogonal to the axial direction is a closed cross section having a substantially cross shape having 12 apexes.
