PURPOSE: A distributed control system and an automatic setting method thereof are provided to automatically comprise a slave controller according to the type of a function board even through a user does not know the function of a processing board in the distributed control system. CONSTITUTION: A distributed control system comprises a master controller and a slave controller(3). The slave controller is connected to the master controller. The slave controller comprises a processing board(10) and a function board(20). The processing board includes a plurality of motor drives. The function board includes a specific type of a motor which drives a circuit to drive a motor. The function board comprises a motor driving unit(22) and an ID storage(24). The motor driving unit includes the motor driving circuit to drive the specific motor. The ID storage stores ID information which indicates a kind of the motor driving circuit which is mounted on the motor driving unit.
