[Also in Division F4] A gas tap 11 for supplying a main 10 and a pilot gas burner 13 has a contact-pin 20 radially movable in the tap cover 21<SP>1</SP> and bearing on a contact surface 23 on the neck 24 of the gas tap cock 22, the pin when in contact with the surface 23 short-circuiting a pair of spark electrodes 15 for the pilot burner except when the tap is in a position to supply the pilot burner. except when the tap is in a position to supply the pilot burner. When the tap is positioned to supply the pilot burner the pin 20 extends into a recess 25 on the contact surface 23 without making contact therewith. The contact-pin 20 is fixed in a slidable insulating bushing 31 spring-biased towards the neck 24 of the tap cock inside a socket 30 screwed to the tap cover 21<SP>1</SP>. The insulating bushing 31 abuts the inner end 30<SP>1</SP> of the socket 30 when the contact pin 20 is in the recess 25. The outer end of the contact pin 20 projects through the outer end of the socket 30 and has an electrical connector 32. One spark electrode is earthed to the gas tap and the other is connected to the connector 32. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the contact-pin is spring-biased towards the cock neck inside an insulating bush rigidly fixed to the tap cover, the inward movement of the contact-pin being checked by an electrical connector mounted on the end of the contactpin projecting through the outer end of the insulating bush. |
