Provided is an image processing apparatus for making it possible to enhance work efficiency and diagnostic accuracy as pertains to valvular disease for doctors, technicians, and the like. This image processing apparatus has a storage unit, an identification unit, a calculation unit, and a display unit. The storage unit stores a three-dimensional image pertaining to the subject's heart region. The identification unit identifies, by image processing, a plurality of heart valves from a vascular region included in the three-dimensional image. The calculation unit calculates an index value indicative of the degree of opening/closing of the plurality of heart valves. The display unit displays the index value.
