METHODS AND APPARATUSES FOR TRIGGERING GENERATION OF CHANNEL STATUS INFORMATION VIA A DOWNLINK GRANT

A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided enabling provision of an efficient manner of triggering generation of channel status information based in part on provision of a downlink grant. A method and apparatus may receive a downlink control information message from a base station. The message may include data indicating one or more transmit power control commands. The transmit power control commands may correspond to one or more transmit power control states and information redefining at least one of the transmit power control commands, corresponding to one of the states, to include content instructing a device to trigger generation of channel status information. The method and apparatus may also trigger generation of the channel status information in response to detecting the content instructing the device to trigger generation of channel status information and may provide the generated channel status information to the base station via an uplink communication.
