PURPOSE: An air conditioner is provided to selectively install the air conditioner in horizontal and vertical directions by residential environment and installation environment as a user wishes. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises a body, a heat exchanger and a drain assembly(20). The body is variably installed in a horizontal or a vertical direction. The heat exchanger is installed inside the body. The drain assembly collects condensed water generated by the heat exchanger. The drain assembly includes a first drain tray(21) and a second drain tray(25). The first drain tray is arranged in the horizontal lower part of the heat exchanger for collecting the condensed water running down the surface of the heat exchanger when installing the body in the horizontal direction. The second drain tray is arranged in vertical lower part of the heat exchanger for collecting the condensed water running down the surface of the heat exchanger when installing the body in the vertical direction.
