A shaker moulding machine has means for successively filling and compacting the sand in a mould flask 4, in the form of a sand frame 5 and a jolting frame 21 which are independently positioned on the flask by known hoisting means. The sand frame 5, which has a vertically displaceable sprue pattern 7 attached thereto, is positioned on the flask, the sprue pattern 7 being adapted to contact the casting pattern 3 just prior to the seating of the frame 5 on the flask. The flask is filled with sand and preliminary shaking is effected by the shaker device 2. The sand frame is then removed and the jolting frame with sprue pattern 15 is located on the flask. The second sprue pattern 15, which is vertically displaceable, enters the sprue cavity formed by the first sprue pattern 7. The sand is now finally compacted by the jolting weights 23, 24, the weight 24 forming a pouring basin around the sprue pattern 15. The operation of the hoist raises the sprue pattern 15 before the jolting weights. |
