There is disclosed a method for manipulating a displayed object of a graphical user interface, comprising: manipulating the object under the control of a user input in accordance with a positional manipulation permitted by an application under the control of which the object is displayed; and detecting a condition under which the further positional manipulation of the object is prevented by the application, and in response thereto: monitoring further user input; and in dependence upon the further user input meeting a predetermined condition, further positionally manipulating the object.
