PURPOSE: An electronic blackboard and a method providing whiteboard function thereof are provided to use an electronic blackboard screen as a whiteboard, thereby not requiring a large installation space and reducing installation expenses. CONSTITUTION: An electronic blackboard comprises a light emitting unit(50) which is installed on the side of a screen protection plate(30) which covers an electronic blackboard screen. The electronic blackboard converts the electronic blackboard screen into a whiteboard with a white background by irradiating the screen protection plated with white light which is generated by a corresponding light emitting unit. The electronic blackboard includes an input unit, a power supply unit, and a driving control unit. The driving control unit controls the operation of the light emitting unit according to an input command for a whiteboard function, and activates the whiteboard function. The driving control unit sets up a whiteboard function area by controlling a light emitting area of the light emitting unit according to a command which sets up the whiteboard function area.
