The present invention relates to a method for producing salt cores for die casting processes, comprising the steps of: preparing a composition containing one or more water-soluble salts; filling the composition as bulk material into an extruder (2); heating the composition at least until a semi-solid state has been reached and conveying the composition to a collecting chamber (6) in the extruder (2); and moulding the salt core under injection-moulding conditions by pressing the composition out of the collecting chamber (6) through an outlet nozzle (8) into a mould (9, 10).
