PURPOSE: An electronic device and a control method thereof are provided to minimize e-mail reading time by preventing the character brokenness of an e-mail. CONSTITUTION: A wireless communication unit(110) receives an e-mail. When the e-mail does not include character set information related to decoding, a control unit(180) displays one or more decoded preview images by using one or more candidate character sets. When one or more preview images are selected, the control unit selects the character set about the decoding of the e-mail corresponding to the selected preview image.
