The present invention relates to a plate evaporator (200) for subcooling a stream of air (112) through the intercooler (100) of a vehicle. The plate evaporator (200) has a fluid-impermeable evaporator channel (202) for evaporating refrigerant. The evaporator channel is formed between a first plate (208) and a second plate (500). The plate evaporator (200) further has at least one rib (602) for guiding the stream of air (112) and for transferring heat from the stream of air to at least the first plate (208). The at least one rib (602) has a thermally conductive connection to the first plate (208) on the side of the first plate (208) opposite to the evaporator channel (202). The plate evaporator (200) further has a refrigerant inlet (204) to the evaporator channel (202), and a refrigerant outlet (206) from the evaporator channel (202), which is oriented transversely to a main extension plane of the first plate (208) and/or the second plate (500) and is positioned next to a first end of the evaporator channel (202).
