<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter with a cantilever structure which achieves extension of service life by suppressing inclination of an output shaft 5 and pinion tube 6. <P>SOLUTION: An output shaft 5 is pivotally supported by a pinion tube 6 through a direct contact structure α in which an outer peripheral surface other than that of a male helical spline 5a abuts on an inner peripheral surface other than that of a female helical spline 6a of the pinion tube 6. Thus, the output shaft 5 can be pivotally supported by a pinion tube 6 without intermediating other components such as a bearing. With respect to the pivotal support of the output shaft 5 by the pinion tube 6, a total radial clearance is limited to only a radial clearance formed between a sliding surface 5α of an outer peripheral surface of the output shaft 5 and a siding surface 6α of an inner peripheral surface of the pinion tube 6. The inclination of the pinion tube 6 and pinion 7 to the output shaft 5 can be suppressed so that the extension of service life of a stator can be achieved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
