<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording/reproducing device capable of shortening processing time during reproduction of data overlapping of which is eliminated. <P>SOLUTION: The data recording/reproducing device 101 for managing a plurality of recording media and recording/reproducing data in the recording media includes a control unit 102 for controlling processing of the entire device, one or more recording/reproducing devices for recording/reproducing data in the recording media, a recording medium transport device 107 for transporting and handing over the recording media between the recording medium storage area and the recording/reproducing device, a storage unit 105 for storing information, and an overlapped data processing unit 103 for deleting data overlapped with the data recorded in the data recording/reproducing device. The overlapped data processing device 103 registers data, as a reference destination, having contents identical to the data deleted because of the overlapping.
