<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus and image display method with which an image can be displayed on the basis of data stored in an information storage medium with small power supply, even in cases where the main projector apparatus is installed in a circumstance that does not allow a user to reach it. <P>SOLUTION: A projection type image display apparatus 1 has a main projector apparatus 2 that displays an images and a remote control device 3 with which the operation of the main projector apparatus 2 is controlled. The remote control device 3 has a storage medium connection part to/from which a memory card 5 serving as an information storage medium can be attached/detached and a signal transmission part that wirelessly transmits a signal. The main projector apparatus 2 has a signal receiving part that receives a signal and a storage part that stores information. The remote control device 3 has the function of wirelessly transmitting data stored in the memory card 5.
