<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of surely holding a panel cell such as a glass cell. <P>SOLUTION: The display device comprises: a panel cell (a glass cell) 11; a member which is structurally independent from the glass cell 11; and a fixing part 21 where the glass cell and the member are fixed. The display device has also a bezel 14 with an aperture 14c to expose a display area D. The member, which is a backlight unit 12, is located on the opposite side of the aperture relative to the glass cell. The glass cell 11 has a first face including the display area and a second face located on the opposite side of the first face, facing the backlight unit.
