<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric conversion element which excels in photoelectric conversion characteristic and also excels in durability because its photoelectric conversion characteristic does not drop significantly even after a long period of use, and exhibits high IPCE in long wavelength. <P>SOLUTION: In a photoelectric conversion element 10 having a laminate structure composed of a photoreceptor layer 2 including a layer of semiconductor particulates 22 with pigments 21 adsorbed therein, a charge transfer layer 3, and a counter electrode 4 which are each disposed on the upper side of a conductive support body 1, the photoelectric conversion element is a metal complex pigment where the adsorbed pigment is expressed by the formula (1) below. X represents a monodentate ligand. m1 and m2 respectively represent 1. mX represents 0 or 1.
