PURPOSE: A pharmaceutical composition containing a Selaginella tamariscina Spring extract or a fraction thereof is provided to prevent or treat rhinitis. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating rhinitis contains a Selaginella tamariscina Spring extract or a fraction thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The extract is prepared by using water, C1-C4 alcohols, or a mixture thereof. The C1-C4 alcohols are methanol or ethanol. The fraction is prepared by using a non-polar or a polar organic solvent. The rhinitis is allergic rhinitis.
