<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic system and method, for automatically and accurately detecting a boundary of an object from an ultrasonic image. <P>SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic system and method include: detecting edges in the ultrasonic image to form an edge extracted boundary candidate model; performing simplification operation on the edge extracted boundary candidate model to form a simplified boundary candidate model; performing thinning operation on the simplified boundary candidate model to form a thinned boundary candidate model; and detecting a boundary of the object from the ultrasonic image using the edge extracted boundary candidate model, the simplified boundary candidate model and the thinned boundary candidate model. The boundary of the object is automatically detected from the ultrasonic image.
