<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder that prevents a paper guide from being caught by paper and lifted, straightens the paper, and stably feeds the paper without tapering the edge of the paper guide. <P>SOLUTION: After a lifting shelf 1 ascends, the topmost paper 2 is adsorbed and discharged by a paper feeding belt 3 via a suction hole of the circularly moving paper feeding belt 3. When a predetermined number of paper sheets are supplied, a paper guide 21 temporarily evacuates and returns to the paper straightening position again.
