<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ash scattering device for a space funeral, that efficiently discharges ash containers stored inside a case body by widening the opening area of the case body and positively opening the case body. <P>SOLUTION: The ash scattering device for a space funeral is obtained by overlapping half case bodies 2, 3 at the opening parts, which are opened by halving a nearly rectangular shape case body 1 along diagonal lines d on the facing side surfaces of the case body. Solar panels 4 are arranged on the outer surface of the case body. Lock pins 5 for locking the half case bodies in a closed state are arranged in the corner parts of one of the half case bodies 2, 3. A spindle 6 for journaling the half case bodies and a torsion spring 7 for allowing the half case bodies to open by reaction are arranged in the other corner parts. The lock pins are attracted by electromagnets 8 to be operated with power generated by the solar panels, to release the locking of the half case bodies. Ashes are stored inside the case body.
