<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve charge acceptance performance, high rate discharge performance and idling stop life performance of a lead battery with a separator comprised of a porous sheet and a glass mat. <P>SOLUTION: The lead battery includes a separator composed of a porous sheet and a glass mat as a separator, and electrolyte contains aluminum ions of 0.02 mol/L-0.2 mol/L inclusive and lithium ions of 0.02 mol/L-0.2 mol/L inclusive.
