摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die-cast aluminum component strength evaluating method that can appropriately evaluate strengths of actual die-cast aluminum components. <P>SOLUTION: By ultrasonically examining internal defects in a prescribed range of a key-lock part 5, which is a responsive force part of a column housing (die-cast aluminum component) 1 of an electric power steering device, preliminarily figured out by stress analysis after destruction by a twist test performed in advance and, if the largest defective area of internal defects in the prescribed range is not greater than a prescribed value, evaluating the column housing 1 to have a prescribed strength, the strength of the column housing 1, which is an actual die-cast aluminum component, can be appropriately evaluated. Further, by evaluating the strength of a component by the die-cast aluminum component strength evaluating method and keeping the largest defective area of internal defects in the prescribed range of the key-lock part 5 not greater than 0.8 mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>, the column housing 1 with the prescribed strength can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
