<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly select whether a test pattern should be formed in black-and-white or full colors in image maintenance control. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device includes a black-and-white image counter for counting an operation amount related to black-and-white image formation, a color image counter for counting an operation amount related to color and full-color image formation, and a selection unit for selecting whether a specific pattern to be formed by an image forming unit should be formed in full colors or black-and-white depending on the percentages of the operation amount related to black-and-white image formation and the operation amount related to color or full-color image formation, which are calculated from the black-and-white image counter and the color image counter, respectively, to an operation amount related to all image formation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
