CARBON NANOFIBER, AND DISPERSION LIQUID AND COMPOSITION THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that conductivity of a CNF is degraded when the CNF is cut due to excessive oxidation treatment, dispersibility of a CNF becomes worth when oxidation treatment is not sufficient, and dispersibility of a CNF is deteriorated when a dispersion liquid has high concentration.

SOLUTION: An oxygen content of this carbon nanofiber is controlled to 8-20 mass% by subjecting a raw material of the carbon nanofiber to oxidation treatment, and thereby the carbon nanofiber obtains superior dispersibility in a polar solvent. The oxidation treatment is conducted by preferably using a mixed acid of nitric acid and sulfuric acid, in which a concentration ratio of nitric acid is 10-30 mass%, at 100°C or higher. A dispersion liquid of a carbon nanofiber is a liquid in which the carbon nanofibers are dispersed in the polar solvent. A composition of a carbon nanofiber contains the dispersion liquid and a binder component.
