<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus with improved sensor performance by stabilizing the distance between a proximity detection sensor and a sensor protection member. <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus has a light projecting element that emits light to an object, a light receiving element that receives reflection light from the object, a protection member disposed in front of the light projecting element and light receiving element, an outer cover on which the protection member is attached, and a fixing member that fixes the protection member. The light projecting element and the light receiving element are mounted on the same printed board. The fixing member has at least one part that is in press-contact with the outer cover. The outer cover has a press-contact part.
