<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of an internal combustion engine configured to detect a sign of pre-ignition. <P>SOLUTION: Each of a combustion chamber wall surface 14a, an intake passage 16, and an exhaust passage 18 in each cylinder is provided with a light detection device 46 for detecting red light in a cylinder gas or an exhaust gas. A calculation device 48 for calculating red light intensity is connected to each of the light detection devices 46. When the red light is detected in the cylinder gas in an expansion process and an exhaust process, in the exhaust gas, or in the cylinder gas in an open period of an intake valve 34, a sign of pre-ignition is determined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
