PURPOSE: A material shape measuring apparatus is provided to have a measurement unit in contact with a material in a process where the material is transferred to a post-process by a transferring roller unit, thereby correctly measuring a width shape of the material without any error. CONSTITUTION: A material shape measuring apparatus comprises a width rolling mill unit, a transferring roller unit, a supporting shaft(30), and a measurement unit. The width rolling unit rolls the width of a material(S). The transferring roller unit transfers the width-rolled material. A pair of the supporting units is installed across the transferring roller unit to mutually face each other. The measurement unit has one end part which is rotatably connected to the supporting shaft, and another end which is contacted with one side of the material that is transferred by the transferring unit. The measurement unit has the end which is connected to the supporting shaft and which is equipped with a built-in encoder(44) that detects rotation by the other end which is contacted with one side of the material.
