<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antiseptic composition for an ophthalmology preparation which is not irritant to eyes and can be safely applied to eyes having troubles such as dry eyes, eyestrain, cornea damage, anti-allergies and damage by wearing contact lenses, and to provide a composition for ophthalmic use excellent in antiseptic force even if the composition does not contain an antiseptic agent which provides irritation to eye mucous membranes such as benzalkonium chloride. <P>SOLUTION: The composition for ophthalmic use comprises (A) trometamol by 0.5 to 5.0 weight/mass%, (B) one or more selected from boric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid, maleic acid, phthalic acid and ε-amino caproic acid, and (C) edetic acid and/or its salt. The composition contains (A) and (B) in the range of (A)/(B)=1/5 to 5/1 (mass ratio) and has a pH of 5 to 7.5. An irritant antiseptic agent selected from benzalkonium chloride, benzethonium chloride, sorbic acid, sorbate, paraoxybenzoic acid ester, gluconic acid chlorhexidine, thimerosal, phenylethylalcohol and alkyldiaminoethylglycine hydrochloride is not blended in the composition. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
