<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging system capable of obtaining a wide dynamic range image without reducing the frame rate. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging device 1 controls exposure time of an image sensor 3 in an ordinary exposure mode and controls image reading in a thinning mode in which the reading is performed while trimming a part of the pixels over the entire imaging area by the image sensor 3 to thereby obtain a trimmed image of the entire imaging area. An ordinary exposure trimmed partial image, in which a partial image in a predetermined specified area is obtained from the trimmed image of the entire imaging area. Also, imaging device 1 controls exposure time of the image sensor 3 in a short exposure mode and controls image reading in a specified read mode in which the reading of a specified area in the entire imaging area is performed by the image sensor 3 to obtain a short exposure specified partial image.
