<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device capable of suppressing a degradation in the correction precision of a detected roll angle. <P>SOLUTION: If the acceleration which occurs in a vehicle is equal to or greater than a prescribed acceleration set in advance, it is determined to be in an update prohibition state. If the acceleration is less than the prescribed acceleration, it is determined to be not in the update prohibition state. If it is determined to be not in the update prohibition state, a derived corrected roll angle ϕ<SB POS="POST">2off</SB>is updated and stored.
