VERTICAL SHAFT PUMP AND WATERPROOF MOTOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft pump capable of continuing operations thereof even under water.

SOLUTION: The vertical shaft pump includes: a column pipe 12 that extends in a vertical direction in a suction tank 1, has a suction port 13a at a lower end thereof, and is equipped with a main shaft 38B to which an impeller 43 is mounted on a lower end side; a bend pipe 21 one end of which is connected with an upper end of the column pipe 12, the other end of which is connected with a discharge pipe 28 which extends substantially in a horizontal direction, and that has an opening 25 in an upper lateral portion thereof along an axial direction of the column pipe 12; a motor casing 31 that is equipped with an output shaft 38A coupled to the main shaft 38B; and a cooling part (water jacket 51) that is disposed outside of the motor casing 31. The vertical shaft pump is also equipped with a water resistant motor 30 that is disposed above the opening 25 of the bend pipe 21 in a watertight manner.
