PURPOSE: An apparatus for transmitting additional information about location information and a method thereof are provided to allow a user to easily and conveniently send additional information about location information not needing to learn how to use an extra interface. CONSTITUTION: An additional information transmitting apparatus displays a map image including at least one of an image number and coordinate information on the display of a terminal of a sender(S610). In a case that the sender wants to enter additional information about a destination, a layer generating unit of the additional information transmitting apparatus generates a layer to map at least one of the image number and the coordinate information of the map image onto the map image(S620). An additional information input unit is inputted with additional information using the layer generated on the map image by a user(S630), and an additional information transmitting unit transmits the layer added with the additional information to a terminal of a corresponding receiver(S640).
