PURPOSE: A tension weight for a belt conveyor is provided to relieve an impact by coming into contact with a buffer pad even if the weight excessively moves. CONSTITUTION: A tension weight(1) for a belt conveyor(100) comprises tension pulley parts(10), a weight pulley part(20), a weight moving part(30), a detecting part(40), and a control part(50). The tension pulley part supports a belt(80). The weight pulley part is arranged between the tension pulley parts and presses the belt to maintain the tension of the belt. The weight moving part is coupled to the weight pulley part to vary the center of gravity, thereby preventing the swerving of the belt. The detecting part detects the swerving of the belt.
