PURPOSE: A device and a method for inspecting the bottom of a coil in a skin pass rolling line are provided to record images of the coil with rolling information and photographing positions, thereby confirming a quality and causes of defects of the coil with a coil inspection history. CONSTITUTION: A device and a method for inspecting the bottom of a coil in a skin pass rolling line comprises a camera(40), a lighting unit(50), a moving unit(60), a control unit(30), and an output unit(70). The camera is installed in a lower inspection zone of a roller table transferring the skin pass rolled coil in the skin pass rolling line and photographs the bottom of the coil. The lighting unit lights up a photographing region of the camera. The moving unit makes the camera reciprocate in a width direction of the coil. The control unit controls the operation of the camera, the lighting unit, and the moving unit and photographs the bottom of the coil while moving a position of the camera. The output unit outputs the images of the bottom of the coil photographed by the camera.
