The cam follower (6) has a control unit comprising a frame-like control body (29), which is formed with a ramp-like control contour (34) that is outwardly movable relative to an outer lever (11). The control contour is mechanically connected with locking pins (24, 25), which are displaceably guided in holes (26, 27) i.e. through-holes, that are continuously formed in the outer lever. The control contour is transferred to a coupling position upon movement of the control body from an initial position to an operation position. An inner lever (12) is pivotable relative to the outer lever. An independent claim is also included for a valve train for an internal combustion engine.
